Masterful Refurbishment for Ceremonial Excellence.
Ceremonial regalia is a complex blend of precious metals and delicate textiles. While silver requires polishing, the ribbons, velvet, and enamels that support it often require expert tailoring and restoration. Our mobile service ensures both are handled simultaneously with the utmost care.

Regalia Refurbishment

A Chain of Office is often the most valuable and frequently used asset in a civic collection. Because it is worn against different fabrics and exposed to the elements, it requires a specific type of dual-specialist care that addresses both the precious metal and the textile components.

Structural Integrity & Link Repair

Chains of Office endure significant stress during wear. Over time, links can stretch, solder joints can weaken, and safety chains can become unreliable.

The Service: We meticulously inspect every link and jump ring for wear. We perform on-site soldering and stabilization to ensure the chain is structurally sound and secure.

Conservation-Grade Cleaning

Traditional Jewellery dips can be too harsh for historic chains, especially those with intricate engravings or mixed metals.

The Service: We use a "dry-cleaning" conservation method for the metal. This removes years of skin oils, dust, and tarnish without the risk of liquid seeping into hollow links or behind enamel settings.

Velvet & Silk Refresh (The "Michaels" Touch)

The "soft" side of a chain is just as important as the metal. A faded ribbon or a stained velvet backing can diminish the prestige of the entire ensemble.

The Service: In partnership with Michaels Civic Robes, we replace: Velvet Neck-Backings: Replacing old, matted velvet with premium, colour-matched cotton velvet to protect the wearer's Clothing & Robes.

Neck Ribbons: Fitting new neck Collarettes to Badges of Office using traditional mounting techniques.

The On-Site Advantage for Mayors & Clerks

Instant Availability: If the Mayor is called to an unscheduled event, the chain is right there in the building.

Insurance Compliance: Most "All Risks" Civic insurance policies prefer on-site maintenance over high-risk transit.

Bespoke Fitting: We can adjust the "hang" of the chain on-site to ensure it sits perfectly on the specific robes used by your authority.

The Victorian Collection

Recently, our atelier was tasked with the full restoration of a private 1880s Victorian tea service. Through careful electrolytic cleaning and precision polishing, we removed decades of tarnish without compromising the delicate engravings.
